E-Voting for the Formulation of Student Council
Students at DC Model Sr. Sec. School Sector 7, Panchkula went through the electoral process and casted their valuable votes to the deserving candidates for the prestigious posts for forming the School Council and choosing the Head Boy and the Head Girl. Before the actual voting, the contestants made imposing speeches in open House to impress the students to cast their precious vote in their favour. A team of Director Sir and esteemed teachers also heard their agendas. Each of them was assigned an electoral symbol. Continuing with the tradition started three years back; the school conducted a fair and impartial election through e-voting which was the star attraction of the event. It was indeed an example of democracy at its best. The young voters from classes 8 th , 9th, 10 th were allowed to cast their votes in school through computers. It was a proud moment for them when they got a chance to caste vote in a unique way. The whole process went peacefully without disturbing the academic ambience of the school. Innovative idea of Mr. BB Gupta in effective utilization of technology has helped saving quality time and reducing complexities related to the finalization of the result. To the utmost surprise of the candidates, the result was declared on the very next day. Riya Bansal and Aditya Anchal were declared the Head Girl and Head Boy of the school. Navneet and Jiya of class 9th were declared Vice Head boy and Vice Head Girl. The other portfolios include- Discipline In charges, Event Planner, Creative Head, Literary In charge, Science In Charge, Uniform In Charge, Sports In charge and Cleanliness In charge. At the investiture ceremony, the Director, Shri. BB Gupta, Principal, Mrs. Usha Gupta and Coordinator Deepika Bhardwaj graced the event by honoring all the council members with badges and admonished them to be impartial in imparting their duties. Director Shri BB Gupta congratulated the staff members for making the best use of computer technology and wished good luck to the aspiring leaders to come up to the expectations of everyone and prove them to be the role models to be followed. Eshwaramma Day 2018 was commemorated with all sanctity and devotion to mark the death anniversary of saintly lady who was blessed to be the mother to the avatar of Sri Satya Sai Baba. Easwaramma was one of the pioneers of the Bal Vikas movement. Hence this day is also celebrated as Bal Vikas Day. Eshwaramma week celebration commenced with a series of various events and competitions conducted by Sri Satya Sai Seva Organisation in Panchkula . The programme started with the formal Veda recital by the students. The accuracy of intonation and pronunciation of Veda Mantras by students left the whole ambience reverberated with intense divinity and spirituality. The students of various schools in the tricity paid a humble tribute to the divine soul by participating in ‘On the Spot Painting competition, English Declamation competition, Value based Skit competition. The Painting competition was divided into two age groups 6 to 9 and 9 above. More than 46 participants exhibited their skills in this competition . Besides this 22 participants showcased their oratory skills in the declamation competition, where as 9 teams left everyone spell bound with their acting skills and the message delivered through their skits. The judges for these competitions were Mr. Yogesh Arora, Manish Kapoor, Mrs. Nandita Mohan, O.P. Sharma, Arunlata Sood, Mrs Vinod Ahuja, Mrs. Anita Gupta and Rahul. In Value based skit competition, D C Montessori Chd, Shishu Niketan and Manav Mangal won I,II and III positions respectively. In Declamation Sonika grabbed first position .Osheen and Bhawna won II and III position. In “On the Spot Painting Competition” in junior category Sanchita , Manavi and Kumkum stood I, II, III respectively. In Sernior group Kanav , Neha and Anushka won I, II, III positions . The Director of the School Sh B.B. Gupta congratulated all the prize winners. The Judges and dignitaries applauded the efforts of the students and blessed them for their bright future.
With an aim to eliminate measles and control congenital rubella syndrome (CRS) in the country, MR campaign was effectively conducted in the premises of DC Model Sr. Sec. School, Panchkula. Around 1300 students from classes 1 to 10 were vaccinated. A team of medical experts conducted the whole programme successfully under the supervision of Urban Nodal Officer, Dr. Meenu Sasan, Dr. Shivani from WHO and District Immunization officer, Suman Jain. The whole programme was a part of the national campaign carried out under the flagship of National Health Mission. The written consent of the parents was sought regarding the vaccination and were allowed to accompany them for the same. Separate rooms for vaccination and observation were set up for the children to make them feel comfortable. The children were kept under the strict observation of nurses and one doctor. To divert the attention of the children, informative and motivational TED talks were shown to the children. Earlier in the week, as a part of this campaign, poster making activity was conducted in the classes. Later the students were apprised about the hazardous effects of the disease and the misconception and rumuors which hampered the government's initiative to eradicate this fatal disease from the country through power point presentation. The Director of the school, Shri BB Gupta and Principal Mrs. Usha Gupta thanked each and every member of the medical team for showing such dedication towards the mission. He also thanked all the parents who shunned panic and actively joined hands with the school and health department in eradicating the menace of MR. Labour's Day Celebration

Each occupation is equally important and we should value and regard each community helper. This human interdependency in society was highlighted celebrating International Labour Day in the premises of DC Model Sr. Sec. School Sector 7 by the Students of kindergarten section. The assembly focussed to honour the dignity of labour. It commenced with morning prayers followed by good poems and speeches by the teachers who highlighted the inevitable role of the helpers in making our life easy going. The Students expressed their feelings of respect towards their tireless efforts and cooperation to the society in the form of handmade cards and bouquet of flowers especially designed for them. A special lunch was arranged by the kindergarten students for them as a token of love for their services to the school. The principal of the school also honoured their labour by distributing packets of food items. The coordinator of the school Mrs Deepika Bhardwaj , in her speech expressed the importance of their assistance to the society and urged the students to learn to respect and appreciate their efforts. The Principal, Mrs. Usha Gupta also took this opportunity to thank the class IV employees saying that without their cooperation it would be difficult to run the school smoothly and also admired their hard work saying that though they remain invisible, their work is really commendable.

Story Telling Competition

To explore the oratory skills the students of primary classes of DC Model School conducted English Story Recitation competition in school. Almost all the students participated with great enthusiasm and recited stories on varied themes. The most remarkable note about the stories was that each had a moral value. The students showcased their unmatched level of confidence, elocution and fine pronunciation on the stage. The relevantly used props by the students made their recitation more interesting and expressive. The objective of the activity was to assist the students overcome their hesitation and stage fear and nurture their inherent talent. The students with best presentations were selected and applauded by everyone. The Principal Smt. Usha Gupta congratulated the winners and appraised the students for their efforts. She asked the children to follow the values they learnt from the stories.
