The otherwise serene atmosphere of DC Model Sr. Sec. It was a spectacular day when the students performed to the hilt and mesmerised the audience which seemed to be at par with that of mature artists. The function was graced by the benign presence of Swami Satyeshananda ji, Secretary,Ramakrishna Mission Ashram, Chandigarh, Sh Piyush Punj, Principal, Vivekananda Millennium School and Sq. Ldr. KS Vashishth ji and Mrs. Renu Verma, Principal, DC Montessori, Smart School, Mani Majra presided over the cultural show. The chief guests were over whelmed with the traditional and warm welcome by the students and teachers. The function commenced with the garlanding of Lord Ganesha, lightening of lamp and paying tribute to the founder of the school, Shri M.R Dass. The thematic cultural bonanza commenced in a unique way where the journey before freedom of India was shown with the letter of Lord Macaulay to Queen Victoria for the need to spread English Education which gradually yielded a threat to rich culture and heritage of India. To paint this beautiful blending of past and present, the students presented a scintillating Prayer dance which was followed by Welcome dance depicting the true spirit of Atithi Devo Bhava. The Classical dance by the students of class 8 portrays rich, radiant and vibrant culture of India. Afterwards the students filled the ambience with the patriotic fervour with their powerful performance on ballads Jhansi Ki Rani and Rope dance, Commando dance and Patriotic Dance that instilled in everyone's heart the message of courage and fearlessness of our brave soldiers. The dances hypnotised the audience who were carried away with heart touching impact left by the items. The achievements and good practices of the school were highlighted through a Power Point Presentation on School Report which left an everlasting effect on the parents. Yet another stupendous performance left the audience spellbound was Aerobics which was followed by yoga that clearly stated that yoga is not only a means of exercise rather a way of life. The laudable Rajasthani folk dance performed by the girls captivated the audience and compelled everyone to tap their feet on the energetic and colourful item. Another highlight of the show was Dashavatar, a narrative that highlighted all the avatars of Lord Vishnu. The dance emphasized on the fact that good wins over evil. The last but not the least was the group song- Tum Samay ki raat per chodte chalo nishaan which was truly motivational and insightful. The Director, Shri BB Gupta, Principal Mrs Usha Gupta, Vice Principal, Mr. Gurjeet were all in praise for the Coordinators for the overall management and the untiring efforts of dance and music teachers who choreographed the colourful show.
